Brazilians have R$ 10.27 billion forgotten in banks and other institutions; see how to withdraw

The Central Bank of Brazil reports that R$ 10.27 billion is currently forgotten in banks and financial institutions, belonging to millions of individuals and companies, with instructions on how to reclaim these funds.

According to an update from the Central Bank of Brazil, Brazilians currently have R$ 10.27 billion forgotten in banks, consortia, cooperatives, and other financial institutions. This amount is associated with 49.59 million individuals and 5.03 million companies, indicating an increase from the previous month. In January, the available amount for withdrawal was reported to be approximately R$ 10 billion, affecting a similar number of individuals and businesses.

The process for reclaiming these forgotten funds is straightforward and can be done for free on the SVR website (www.bcb.gov.br/meubc/valores-a-receber). Individuals need only to provide their CPF (tax identification number) or CNPJ (business identification number) to check for any available funds. Should there be a balance to withdraw, it requires having a Gov.br account set to either silver or gold level.

Out of the total unclaimed amount, R$ 7.97 billion belongs to individuals, while R$ 2.29 billion is associated with businesses. The Central Bank highlights that since the program's inception, it has successfully returned R$ 13.35 billion to clients and companies that had previously had their funds overlooked.
