Three individuals from Klaipėda, Lithuania, are set to stand trial over serious accusations of drug possession. This pre-trial investigation has been overseen by the Klaipėda District Prosecutor's Office, specifically by the prosecutor in charge of the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division. Officers from the Klaipėda County Police Headquarters were responsible for the investigation, which revealed significant findings regarding the illegal acquisition and storage of various narcotic and psychotropic substances.

According to the case details, a 59-year-old man unlawfully obtained and held a substantial amount of narcotic and psychotropic substances, including cannabis, 119 tablets of lorazepam, and 240 tablets of bromazepam. These substances were stored in various locations across Klaipėda and its surrounding areas until discovered and confiscated by police during searches. It is highlighted that psychotropic medications should only be used for therapeutic purposes under a doctor's prescription; thus, any unauthorized acquisition, possession, or transfer of these drugs is considered illegal and can lead to criminal charges.

Additionally, a 30-year-old resident of the port city has also been charged in connection with this case, indicating that the investigation has broader implications, potentially unveiling a network of illegal drug distribution within the region. This series of events underscores ongoing challenges related to drug abuse and trafficking in Lithuania, prompting authorities to take rigorous measures against such criminal activities.
