Two women in Klaipeda held psychotropic substances in a dietary supplement store
Two women in Klaipeda have been found guilty of unlawfully possessing psychotropic substances with the intent to sell them.
In Klaipeda, Lithuania, police have uncovered a case involving two women, aged 55 and 39, who were found in possession of a significant amount of psychotropic drugs at a dietary supplements store located in the market area. The older woman was operating her own business, while the younger one was employed there. A total of 140 tablets of 'Phenibut' were seized during the operation, indicating the intent to distribute these controlled substances illegally.
Both women lacked the required legal documentation to acquire and possess these controlled substances and were not authorized to sell pharmaceutical-grade psychotropic medications. Additionally, the 55-year-old woman was found to possess approximately 15 tablets of 'Phenazepam' and another 10 tablets of 'Phenibut' at her home in the Klaipeda region without the intention to distribute them further. The authorities conducted a thorough search and confiscated all illicit substances found.
As a result of the investigation, the 55-year-old woman was convicted under Articles 259 and 260 of the Penal Code, leading to a sentence of 1 year and 9 months in prison, with the execution of the sentence suspended for two years, while the 39-year-old woman was convicted under Article 260 and received a sentence of 1 year and 3 months. This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding the illegal trade of psychotropic substances in Lithuania, as law enforcement continues to address drug-related offenses throughout the country.
