Criminal case regarding illegal drug possession transferred to Kaunas District Court
A criminal case concerning illegal drug possession has been forwarded to the Kaunas District Court involving a woman and a resident of Jonava.
The case transferred to the Kaunas District Court involves charges against a woman and a resident of Jonava for illegal possession of narcotic and psychotropic substances with no intent to distribute. The pre-trial investigation was organized and led by prosecutor Asta Kaminskienė from the Kaunas District Prosecutor’s Office, with the investigation carried out by officers from the Jonava Police Station of the Kaunas County Police Headquarters.
According to the indictment, the female accused unlawfully acquired a significant amount of narcotic substances, including 5 grams of cocaine and 13 paper tabs containing carfentanil last August, intending to use and potentially distribute these substances. The illegal drugs were found at her residence during a police search.
Additionally, in May 2025, a resident of Jonava purchased two paper tabs containing a light-colored powder for personal use without the intent to sell or distribute. This case sheds light on the ongoing issues related to drug possession and abuse in Lithuania, emphasizing the authorities’ commitment to tackling drug-related offenses and ensuring public safety.
