Yongin City in South Korea is introducing an AI broadcasting system for local sports enthusiasts, enabling high-quality video recordings of their games.
Yongin City, located in South Korea, has announced the initiation of an advanced AI broadcasting system aimed at enhancing the experience of local amateur athletes. This system, set to be implemented in April at two soccer fields in the city, will allow users to enjoy a data-driven sports experience akin to that of professional athletes. The AI technology will automatically track players' movements and the ball's trajectory, providing high-definition video coverage without the need for a manual filming crew. Users will have the ability to watch live games as well as review them later through a dedicated application.
Particularly appealing to amateur players, the system will allow them to edit and share exciting moments such as impressive goals and defensive plays on social media, thus diversifying how recreational sports are appreciated. The city is collaborating with the Yongin Sports Council and KT Skylife to manage this initiative effectively and intends to evaluate the outcomes at the two pilot soccer fields. Based on the success of this program, Yongin plans to expand the AI broadcasting to other sports facilities, including basketball and volleyball courts.
Officials from Yongin City have highlighted this project as a significant application of the city’s advanced infrastructure to enhance daily life for citizens. They emphasize the goal of creating a progressive sports environment that empowers local residents to document and enjoy their games like professionals. This initiative marks a shift towards integrating modern technology into everyday sports, fostering greater community engagement and participation in physical activities.
