The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization has announced the successful conclusion of the ‘International AI Video Contest', which was launched to showcase the diverse charms of Gyeonggi Province through generative AI technology. With the slogan 'AI-deas to Promote Gyeonggi,' the contest ran for about five weeks starting in December of last year, attracting a total of 1,680 entries from both domestic and international participants, with 1,216 from South Korea and 464 from overseas. A total of 98 winners were selected after a rigorous evaluation process that included expert judging and online public voting. The awards ceremony took place at the Dong Suwon CGV after the screening of the winning entries, with the grand prize going to the work ‘Where Time Past Becomes Today’s Everyday Life in Gyeonggi,’ which creatively reinterprets the tourism resources of the province. The grand prize winner received a cash prize of 10 million won, while winners in specific categories were awarded 5 million won each for their outstanding submissions. The contest not only highlighted the creativity and talent of participants but also demonstrated the potential of AI as a transformative tool in tourism marketing, according to the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization CEO. The initiative intends to further engage global audiences by making the winning videos available on the ‘Gyeonggi Tourism YouTube’ channel, thereby promoting visitation to the region through innovative storytelling.
