Gyeongnam Province to Train 100 AI Video Creators Over the Next 5 Years

Gyeongnam Province plans to train 100 video creators using artificial intelligence over the next five years to enhance the local creative industry.

Gyeongnam Province has announced a new initiative to train 100 video creators utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) over the next five years, in response to the rapid advancements in AI technology and to secure new growth engines for the regional creative industry. The program, dubbed the 'AI Creator Training Project,' will begin with the recruitment of 40 trainees this year, who will undergo foundational training that spans from late April to the end of May. Out of these, 20 outstanding participants will be selected for advanced training between June and July, focusing on the production and development of creative works using AI tools.

Participants will receive financial support of up to 300,000 KRW for creating three video pieces: two on自由topics and one on a specified theme, with this year’s theme centered on the traditional 'Miryang Arirang' and its modern interpretation. Gyeongnam Province has set aside resources for this initiative and will collaborate with local media centers to facilitate the training and support for the project. The selected works will also be shared on public broadcasting channels and YouTube, providing the creators with vital exposure.

Kyung-ho Gu, the Cultural Industry Support Director of Gyeongnam Province, emphasized that this initiative differentiates itself from previous training programs by incorporating advanced education in AI, financial support for production, expert guidance, and the distribution of high-quality works in partnership with broadcasting stations. This strategic approach not only aims to enhance the skills of local creators but also to foster sustainable activities and collaborations within the creative ecosystem of the region.
