Korea National Sport University holds a report meeting for training professionals in sports AI

Korea National Sport University held a report meeting on the achievements of its AI-based international smart coaching project, involving various universities' AI research teams.

On the 25th, Korea National Sport University (KNSU) hosted a report meeting at the Milletopia Hotel in Wrye, Gyeonggi Province, to showcase the results of the 'AI-Based International Smart Coaching Professional Training Project,' part of the 2025 National University Development Project. The meeting featured AI research teams from several other universities including Deoksung Women's University, Kyunghee University, Dankook University, Hankyong National University, Incheon University, Gyeonggi University, and Anyang University. The event was set up to share the real-world achievements of projects that integrate AI and sports.

During the meeting, four teams composed of faculty advisors, graduate, and undergraduate students presented their developments. For instance, the DSCSPA team showcased an automated design platform for running courses based on β€˜Vibe Coding’ that factors in athletic goals and environmental data. Another team, VolleyVision, unveiled a video analysis system for volleyball that automatically tracks and analyzes the ball’s trajectory, aiming to quantify performance. Additionally, the MissionFit and All4Sports teams developed platforms for analyzing participatory sports mission data and managing physical fitness measurements through a web-based system, respectively.

Professor Park Jae-hyun from KNSU emphasized that students defined real-world challenges and demonstrated solutions through AI technologies, aiming to refine the training and analysis model for smart coaching professionals. He expressed the university's intent to enhance practical achievements across training, analysis, and athlete management. The event also featured a special lecture by former Minister of Science and ICT Yoo Sang-im, highlighting the university's efforts to contribute to government AI policies in sports and the potential for expanding AI applications in this field.
