UFPI announces 150 vacancies for free courses in robotics and appliance repair for girls from 13 years old

The Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) is offering 150 free vacancies for professional courses aimed at girls starting from 13 years old, focusing on robotics and appliance repair.

The Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) has announced the availability of 150 free vacancies for courses in mathematics, robotics, renewable energies, and appliance repair. The initiative targets the professional qualification of women and girls aged 13 and above, in order to enhance their skills and encourage participation in STEM fields. This project, named 'ATHENA: Women and Girls in Science', is in collaboration with the State Secretariat for Women (Sempi) and is scheduled to take place from March to September of this year.

According to Fabíola Linard, the project coordinator from UFPI's Technology Center, the courses aim to promote professional qualification, economic autonomy, and an increased presence of women in scientific and technological careers. Classes will occur on Saturdays at the Teresina campus, although the specific dates for registration and the activity schedule have yet to be announced. This effort reflects a broader commitment to enhancing gender equality in technical education and fostering future opportunities for young women.

The initiative not only supports individual skill development for participants but also addresses the gender gap in the science and technology sectors by encouraging young girls to engage in fields traditionally dominated by males. This kind of project could lead to significant social change, empowering a new generation of women to take on roles in technology and engineering, thereby transforming the landscape of the workforce and contributing to a more inclusive society in Brazil.
