UFPI releases the 1st call from the waitlist of Sisu 2026; enrollments begin on Wednesday (25)
The Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) has announced the selection list for the first round of the Sisu 2026 admissions process, with enrollment starting soon.
The Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) in Teresina has released the first selection list from the waitlist for its 2026 admissions through the Sisu system. This system is designed to facilitate access to higher education in Brazil, allowing students to select their preferred courses based on their performance in the Enem exam. A total of 5,374 places have been offered for enrollment, which includes undergraduate programs available in-person, semi-distance, and distance learning formats. The enrollment process will begin on Wednesday, the 25th.
Of the total number of available spots, 2,541 are open for general admission, while 2,833 are reserved for affirmative action programs as stipulated by Brazil's Law No. 12,711/2012, which aims to promote greater equity in university access. This structured allocation highlights the university's commitment to inclusion and diversity within its undergraduate programs. Candidates are reminded that securing a place will require them to meet legal documentation requirements, particularly for students entering through quota systems.
As Brazilian universities continue to adapt their admissions processes to serve a diverse population, the focus on affirmative action has become increasingly relevant. The UFPI's significant number of available slots reflects both the growing demand for higher education and the university's efforts to enhance educational opportunities for all segments of society, particularly underrepresented groups. This step is seen as crucial in the ongoing effort to reduce educational disparities throughout the country.
