President visits Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Center
Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited the Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Center, discussing the construction progress of a new health facility with hospital officials.
On Tuesday, Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited the Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Center at the Rīgas Austrumu Klīniskās Universitātes Slimnīcas (RAKUS) to discuss the ongoing construction of a new Pulmonary Health and Infectious Diseases building. He met with RAKUS CEO Vadims Beļuns, emphasizing the significance of the project for improving patient care environments and working conditions for healthcare staff.
During his visit, President Rinkēvičs toured various important areas of the facility, including the pulmonary disease clinic, thoracic surgery department, and the operational block, highlighting the importance of these medical services in public healthcare. The discussions also touched on how the new building will meet international standards and enhance operational capabilities.
The Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Center, which is currently located in Stopiņu parish of Ropažu municipality, is set to relocate to new premises on Hipokrāta street in Riga by the first half of 2028, as part of significant upgrades to meet modern healthcare demands and improve service delivery for patients with respiratory illnesses.
