On March 10 and 11, Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs is welcoming Czech President Petr Pavel and his spouse Eva Pavlova on a state visit to Latvia. The purpose of this visit is to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two nations, focusing particularly on defense cooperation and regional security, especially in light of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. A joint press conference is scheduled to take place at Riga Castle, emphasizing the importance of both countries' collaboration amid current geopolitical challenges.
During the visit, various discussions will revolve around transatlantic relations as well as support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. In addition to the press conference, President Pavel will meet with Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa and Deputy Speaker of the Saeima Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica, illustrating the importance of high-level diplomatic engagements between Latvia and the Czech Republic.
