North and South Bypass Tunnels will have night closures for maintenance in North Coast of SP
The North and South Bypass Tunnels of the Tamoios Highway in the North Coast of São Paulo will undergo night closures this week for maintenance work.
The North and South Bypass Tunnels along the Tamoios Highway, connecting Caraguatatuba to São Sebastião in the North Coast of São Paulo, are scheduled for night closures this week to facilitate necessary maintenance. According to the responsible concessionaire, the closures will occur from 10 PM to 6 AM the following day. On Monday, the North Bypass will be fully closed, and drivers are advised to take the alternative route via the Rio-Santos Highway (SP-055).
From Tuesday to Thursday, maintenance work will be carried out on the South Bypass. Unlike the previous closure, this one will not involve a total blockage of the roadway; instead, one tunnel will be closed while traffic will continue in a bi-directional flow through the other tunnel. This staged approach aims to minimize disruption while ensuring the safety and efficiency of ongoing maintenance.
The South Bypass stretches approximately 23 kilometers, linking kilometer 11 of the Tamoios Highway at Caraguatatuba's entrance to kilometer 33, post the Centro de São Sebastião. The planned maintenance is crucial for maintaining the roadway's safety and operational integrity, which is particularly important given the high traffic volume in this coastal region, especially during peak tourist seasons.
