Bel Cosméticos and Mundo do Cabeleireiro Announce Merger

The beauty retail chains Bel Cosméticos and Mundo do Cabeleireiro have announced a merger, aiming to create the largest multi-brand beauty platform in Brazil.

On Monday, beauty retail chains Bel Cosméticos and Mundo do Cabeleireiro announced their merger, orchestrated by manager L Catterton. The merge is expected to form Brazil's largest multi-brand platform focused on beauty, with a combined total of 130 stores across the country. One of the primary reasons for the merger is the low geographic overlap between the two brands; this allows them to tap into new markets and expand their reach.

The merger also presents complementary pricing and target demographics, which L Catterton plans to leverage to increase the range of products offered, including hair care, dermatological products, make-up, and fragrances across more price segments. The goal of the combined entities is to lead the specialized beauty retail sector in Brazil. Celso Moraes, one of the co-founders of Mundo do Cabeleireiro, has been named the CEO of the new company, bringing together the expertise and vision of both brands.

This merger reflects a growing trend in the beauty industry where consolidation is seen as a strategic move to enhance competitiveness and market presence. The combined scale of the new entity is likely to provide significant advantages in supply chain management, marketing reach, and product diversity, further enabling the company to cater to a broader consumer base and foster growth in an increasingly competitive market.
