Chalkida: Minor Arrested for Drug Trafficking – His Mother Also Arrested

In Chalkida, a minor was arrested for drug trafficking along with two other individuals, including his mother.

On Sunday morning and afternoon, three individuals were arrested in areas of Chalkida for violations related to drug laws. The arrests included two Greeks, one of whom is a minor, and a foreign national. Law enforcement officials, part of the local police and immediate response teams, initially apprehended the two adults after discovering and seizing two makeshift packages containing a total of 2 grams of raw cannabis, along with cannabis grinders, an electronic precision scale with cannabis residue, and two mobile phones.

Subsequent investigations conducted by the Chalkida Crime Detection & Investigative Department revealed that these adults had acquired the narcotic substances from the minor, who was also subsequently arrested. In a search carried out at the minor's residence, authorities found and seized 179.9 grams of cannabis contained in nine makeshift packages, further underscoring the serious nature of the drug-related activities. The implications of such arrests highlight ongoing issues related to drug trafficking in Greece, particularly involving younger individuals and family involvement in illegal activities.

This incident raises concerns about the involvement of youth in drug trafficking and the socio-economic conditions that may lead to such behavior. It also calls for attention to preventive measures and interventions that can be employed to address these challenges in local communities, especially as drug laws become increasingly stringent and public awareness grows regarding the dangers of drug abuse.
