Driver arrested suspected of driving drunk and crashing into cars on a highway in Campo Limpo Paulista
A driver was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and crashing into multiple vehicles on a highway near Campo Limpo Paulista, Brazil.
On Saturday afternoon, a driver was arrested in Campo Limpo Paulista for reportedly driving drunk and colliding with several other vehicles on the Edgar MΓ‘ximo Zambotto highway (SP-354). According to the police report, the driver crashed into the rear of a car that had slowed down to navigate a speed bump. After the initial accident, the suspect failed to stop and assist the victims, leading to a subsequent collision with another vehicle.
One of the victims, having observed the incidents, decided to follow the suspect and managed to identify themselves as a police officer during the confrontation. At that point, the driver exhibited clear signs of intoxication, which included slurred speech and the smell of alcohol. Additionally, two pouches containing cocaine were found with him at the time of arrest.
Following his arrest for driving under the influence, the suspect was taken to the local police station where he remained in custody. He was eventually transferred to the Campo Limpo Paulista triage center. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety and the dangers of driving while intoxicated in the region.
