Truck driver arrested in the act after driving drunk and against traffic for two kilometers on SP-348 in Jundiaí

A truck driver was arrested for driving under the influence and in the wrong direction on a Brazilian highway, causing a spill of fuel and damage to his vehicle.

A 46-year-old truck driver was arrested in Jundiaí, São Paulo, after driving drunk and in the wrong direction for around two kilometers on the Bandeirantes Highway (SP-348). The incident occurred early Thursday morning when he entered the highway from a gas station in the wrong lane, creating a hazardous situation traffic. His reckless driving led to a collision with a concrete barrier, which ruptured his fuel tank and resulted in diesel spilling onto the road, in addition to damaging the tire and tearing the tarp of his trailer, releasing a portion of vegetable oil onto the asphalt.

When authorities, including personnel from the concessionaire AutoBan and the Military Highway Police, approached the driver, he exhibited signs of confusion, aggression, and disorientation. Witnesses noted that he had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, red eyes, slurred speech, and was telling incoherent stories.
