Drunk driver arrested after driving a truck in zig-zag and causing accidents in the interior of SP; VIDEO
A drunk truck driver was arrested after causing accidents on a highway in São Paulo, driving erratically for about 60 kilometers before being stopped.
In a troubling incident reported by EPTV, an affiliate of TV Globo, a truck driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, resulting in multiple accidents on a highway between the cities of Franca and Rifaina in São Paulo state. Initial reports indicate that the driver had a dispute with another trucker which led to a collision. Videos captured by passengers in vehicles behind him showed the dangerous nature of his driving, as he swerved erratically despite the accidents occurring around him.
The driver managed to continue driving for approximately 60 kilometers, during which time he struck another vehicle and even managed to breach a police blockade set up at the entrance to Rifaina. The situation escalated until the driver’s truck suffered mechanical failure and came to a stop, prompting municipal guards to forcibly remove him from the vehicle. Following his removal, he was taken to a health unit for treatment before being brought to the police station for questioning, where he was ultimately released but is now facing charges for driving under the influence.
Fortunately, no one was injured during these dangerous events, although the potential for serious accidents was high given the circumstances. This incident highlights ongoing issues related to drunk driving and poses questions about road safety measures that are currently in place to prevent such occurrences in the future.
