Holcim Ecuador has a 21% female participation, well above the 3.9% recorded in the construction sector

Holcim Ecuador highlights its 21% female workforce participation, significantly above the national average of 3.9% in the construction sector.

In Ecuador, women in the construction sector only represent 3.9% of the workforce, but Holcim Ecuador has achieved a remarkable 21% female participation across its operations. The company emphasizes this figure in a statement released around International Women's Day, stating that their workforce composition multiplies the sector's average by over four times and signifies a consistent transformation that goes beyond mere symbolic gestures.

With a workforce exceeding 900 employees nationwide, Holcim has also integrated this commitment to gender equality into its governance structure, where almost 50% of its leadership team is comprised of women. This representation is highlighted as a significant achievement within the typically male-dominated industrial sector. Notably, 2021 marked a turning point for Holcim as Dolores Prado became the first female CEO of the local operation, and Caterina Costa took the presidency of the board, showcasing the company's focus on elevating female leadership.

Additionally, Holcim inaugurated the Loma Alta aggregates plant in Daule, designed to primarily employ women from the start of operations. Such initiatives illustrate Holcim Ecuador's commitment to fostering gender diversity and empowerment in the construction sector, seeking to create a more inclusive working environment and setting a precedent for other companies in the industry.
