Hybrid work is consolidating in Ecuador and is reflected in greater productivity, according to a PwC study

A PwC study reveals that the hybrid work model is increasingly adopted in Ecuador, with significant productivity benefits noted by companies.

A recent study by PwC Ecuador indicates that the hybrid work model is becoming more prevalent in the country, with a notable shift away from the traditional five-day office workweek. By 2026, this change is expected to be fully entrenched in the Ecuadorian job market. Currently, 37% of businesses in Ecuador utilize a hybrid model, a figure that has consistently fluctuated between 33% and 41% over the past three years, suggesting a decisive move towards flexible work arrangements.

In contrast to the hybrid model's rise, the study highlights that 61% of organizations continue to employ in-person work structures while only 2% operate entirely virtually. This mixed approach illustrates a transitional phase in the workforce adaptation to more flexible working environments. The research emphasizes the importance of this shift, particularly in terms of organizational performance metrics.

One striking outcome of the hybrid work adoption is the reported improvement in productivity among those companies that have embraced this model. Approximately 57% of organizations implementing hybrid structures claim enhancements in productivity, work quality, and a focus on high-value tasks. This suggests that the flexibility of hybrid work may not only benefit employees but also lead to overall advancements in workplace efficiency in Ecuador.
