Lithuanian swimmers finished impressively on the first day of the Baltic Championship
Lithuanian swimmers had a remarkable performance on the opening day of the Baltic Championship, with several athletes achieving podium finishes and qualifying for international competitions.
The Baltic Championship kicked off with participants competing in three age categories, where the morning events determined the champions and medallists from the Baltic countries for youth and junior categories. Athletes who successfully surpassed their qualifying heats faced off again in the evening finals, which included competitors from all age groups, from juniors to seniors. During the first evening events, male swimmers opened with the 100m freestyle, where Tajus Juška emerged as the champion of the Baltic countries, achieving a time that meets the European Youth Championship standard in 49.66 seconds. Close behind him were Danas Rapšys with a silver medal and Kristupas Trepočka who secured the bronze. Following their performance, female swimmers completed the 200m freestyle, with Ieva Jurkūnaitė winning the event in a time of 2 minutes and 01.60 seconds, with Ieva Nainytė and Ieva Visockaitė taking the second and third places respectively. In another highlight, Domas Vilimas was crowned the champion of the 200m breaststroke in the open age group, showcasing the overall competitiveness and talent present at this championship.
