VLT works cause temporary traffic changes on Avenida do Aeroporto in Fortaleza
Temporary traffic changes are being implemented on Avenida do Aeroporto in Fortaleza due to ongoing VLT construction work.
Motorists using Avenida Carlos Jereissati, known as Avenida do Aeroporto, in Fortaleza must be vigilant about temporary traffic changes this weekend. These modifications are essential for the ongoing construction of the Light Rail Vehicle (VLT) project along the Airport-Castelão route. This will involve the temporary removal of a pedestrian bridge in the Dias Macêdo neighborhood and the surrounding area for safety reasons during the construction phase.
The intervention will affect traffic flows around the pedestrian bridge that connects the avenue to Nova Esperança Street. To facilitate the dismantling of the structure, traffic will be diverted until the early hours of Sunday (8th). During this intervention, one lane of the avenue will operate in both directions to maintain vehicle flow and minimize congestion towards the airport.
Additionally, authorities have indicated that trucks will be restricted from using the area during the construction hours. These measures aim to ensure the safety of both workers and motorists, as well as to keep the traffic moving as smoothly as possible amid the ongoing infrastructure improvements.
