VLT works have beam launch near BR-324 and cause traffic changes in Salvador
The launch of beams for the VLT viaduct construction near BR-324 in Salvador is causing temporary traffic disruptions over the weekend.
In Salvador, the ongoing construction of the Light Rail Vehicle (VLT) system is set to cause temporary traffic changes due to beam launching for a viaduct near the BR-324 highway. From Friday night until Sunday morning, motorists should expect road closures around the area of the Pirajá station as crews work to install these beams. The operations, scheduled between 10 PM and 5 AM, aim to minimize disruption during peak hours.
The Companhia de Transportes do Estado da Bahia (CTB) has detailed that specific sections of the roadway will be closed during the installation, and drivers are encouraged to follow detour signs and use alternate routes. One such alternative includes a return point near the Pirajá station, allowing for easier navigation around the construction zone. Additional access will also be available via Avenida 29 de Março through indicated alternative routes.
CTB's technical teams will be on-site to manage the traffic flow and ensure safety during the construction activities. This operation is part of the broader VLT project in Salvador and the surrounding metropolitan area, which aims to improve public transportation in the region, ultimately impacting commuters positively despite the temporary inconveniences these works might cause.
