Highway Police seize R$ 345 thousand in cell phones and electronics without invoices on the highway in Rosana

The Highway Police seized around R$ 345 thousand worth of cell phones and electronic equipment without invoices in Rosana, São Paulo.

In a significant operation, the Highway Police seized approximately R$ 345 thousand worth of cell phones and other electronic devices that lacked proper documentation along the Engenheiro Isaac Amaral highway in Rosana, São Paulo. This operation, known as Operation Impact, occurred on Friday morning when police stopped two vehicles registered in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, suspected of transporting contraband goods.

During the inspection of the vehicles, officers discovered nearly 280 mobile phones, as well as camera lenses and various electronic items. The two drivers, aged 35 and 63, claimed that they picked up the merchandise in Dourados and were heading to make a delivery in Primavera, São Paulo. Since the items were found without any fiscal documentation or proof of origin, the police confiscated the entire shipment.

The case has been forwarded to the Federal Revenue Service in Presidente Prudente, São Paulo, for further investigation. The suspects were released after providing their statements to the police, but this incident highlights ongoing issues related to the illegal trade of electronics in Brazil, emphasizing the need for stricter controls and the importance of the police's role in combating such activities.
