No end in sight for warmth – a late winter surprise may still surprise

Finland is experiencing unseasonably warm weather, with temperatures expected to remain above ten degrees Celsius next week.

Recently, Finland has been enjoying a spell of warm spring weather, with the Finnish Meteorological Institute predicting temperatures will stay above normal for the upcoming week. Meteorologist Hannu Valta noted that it is highly likely temperatures will peak above ten degrees Celsius again next week, depending largely on cloud cover. On Saturday, warm temperatures have already been recorded in various parts of the country, with Kemiönsaari reaching 8.4 degrees, Pyhtää Airport at 8.2 degrees, and Hämeenlinna at an even 10 degrees on Friday. Such readings are remarkably high for this time of year, indicating a significant shift from typical seasonal temperatures. The influx of warm air from the southwest is responsible for this unusually mild weather, with the warmest conditions observed in southern and western Finland. However, the meteorologist warns that some regions, particularly Eastern Finland, could experience cooler conditions due to existing snow cover. Cloudy conditions can inhibit temperature rise, and even if sunny spells are projected, Monday may remain predominantly overcast, potentially limiting daytime highs. Thus, while the immediate future suggests more warm days, the variability of weather remains evident, illustrating the unpredictable nature of seasonal transitions in Finland.
