PM arrests suspect of being part of a gang specialized in robberies in condominiums in São Paulo
The São Paulo Military Police arrested a man suspected of being part of a gang that specializes in condominium robberies during an intervention following a robbery call.
In São Paulo, a significant police operation led to the arrest of a suspect believed to be involved in a gang notorious for targeting condominiums. The arrest occurred on Friday, during a response to a reported robbery incident in the Ipiranga neighborhood. Authorities say that the suspect, along with two others who managed to escape, was linked to a series of high-value thefts, primarily focusing on upscale apartment complexes.
The police situated the suspect after witnesses noted the escape of a black Honda City vehicle, which was ultimately located during a patrol. When ordered to stop, the driver attempted to evade the police by fleeing against traffic, which led to a collision and ultimately, his apprehension. After being caught, the suspect confessed to his involvement in various crimes, admitting to participating in a significant theft that resulted in the loss of approximately R$ 500,000 from a location in Moema.
Authorities have noted that this arrest is part of a broader effort to combat organized crime in the region, specifically targeting gangs that exploit vulnerabilities in condominium security. The police report that the vehicle used by the suspect was stolen and had modified license plates, emphasizing the criminal activities surrounding these thefts and the measures being taken to enhance public safety in São Paulo.
