Trio suspected of being part of a burglary gang arrested in SP

Three suspects of residential burglaries in São Paulo were arrested by civil police during an operation in the Paraisópolis favela.

In a significant police operation conducted on the morning of September 9, three suspects linked to a residential burglary ring were arrested in the Paraisópolis favela of São Paulo. The operation was orchestrated by the State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic), which has been cracking down on organized crime in the area. Among the detained is a man known as 'Bode', identified as a potential leader of ongoing home invasions and purported successor to Diego Fernandes de Souza, alias 'Minotauro', who was apprehended in 2025 and is known to have committed numerous burglaries in the state.

Delegate Clemente Calvo highlighted the severe impact of residential burglaries, framing them as not just thefts but violations of family sanctity and peace, thus necessitating a strong state response. The team managed to apprehend two of the suspects armed at the time of their capture, indicating the potential danger they posed. Additionally, authorities seized two cars and a motorcycle believed to have been used in the commission of their crimes, underlining the organized nature of their operations.

This arrest is part of a broader effort by law enforcement to dismantle networks of criminals that operate within neighborhoods such as Paraisópolis, where crime rates have historically been high. With previous members of this gang captured in 2025, the recent arrests could signify a crucial step towards enhancing community safety and deterring future criminal activities in the region, as the police aim to restore a sense of security among residents.
