In Uttar Pradesh, a significant increase in voter applications has been reported, with women surpassing men in new registrations.
The process of updating the voter list in Uttar Pradesh is in full swing, and the recent statistics have revealed surprising trends and milestones. During a press conference held in Lucknow, the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, Navdeep Rinva, announced that from October 27, 2025, approximately 8.6 million people have applied to become new voters. Notably, women have led the charge, surpassing men in this voter registration race.
Rinva highlighted specific statistics indicating a remarkable surge in female applications. Between January 6 and March 6, over 7 million people filled out Form-6 to register, with women accounting for 3.57 million applications compared to 3.49 million from men. Additionally, 296 applications were received from the third gender, illustrating a more inclusive approach to voter registration. Overall, out of the 8.6 million total applications, women submitted approximately 4.36 million applications, while men submitted around 4.31 million, underscoring a significant shift in voter demographics in the state.
This surge in female voter registration not only signifies their growing political engagement but also points to a broader trend of increasing female representation in electoral processes.
