The state of Tamil Nadu has released its final voter list, which shows a significant increase of 2,330,624 voters compared to the draft list. The total number of registered voters in Tamil Nadu now stands at 56,707,380, consisting of 27,738,925 men, 28,960,838 women, and 7,617 individuals from the third gender. This update reflects the state's ongoing efforts to ensure accurate voter representation.
Among the registered voters, there are 1,251,000 individuals aged 18 to 19, and 463,000 are identified as persons with disabilities. The number of senior citizens (aged 85 and above) who are eligible to vote is reported to be 399,000. During the period from December 19, 2025, to January 30, 2026, when claims and objections could be made regarding the draft list, a total of 2,753,000 eligible voters were added while 423,000 ineligible voters were removed, indicating a thorough revision process was conducted by election authorities.
The final voter list was published alongside the eligibility voter list on February 23, 2026, after the special intensive revision phase concluded. With 64,114,587 voters registered by October 27, 2025, the newly updated figures are crucial for the upcoming elections and will influence political dynamics in the state, as an increase in registered voters usually reflects higher political engagement and voter turnout in elections.
