Estonian skiers did not reach the top 30 in the sprint
Estonian skiers failed to qualify for the top 30 in the freestyle sprint at the World Cup event in Lahti, with Mariel Merlii Pulles achieving the best result at 45th place.
At the World Cup cross-country skiing event in Lahti, Estonia's representation in the individual freestyle sprint did not advance past the qualification round. Mariel Merlii Pulles managed to secure the best spot for the team, finishing in 45th place, which was 14.54 seconds off the fastest time. To break into the top 30, she needed to improve her time by just over three seconds. Other Estonian competitors, including Kaidy Kaasiku and Keidy Kaasiku, finished in 53rd and 54th places respectively, while Teesi Tuul was 60th among the participants.
In the men's qualification, the Estonian skiers performed even less favorably, with Henri Roos finishing 66th and Martin Himma 70th out of 76 participants. The leading times in the men's qualification were dominated by notable athletes, including Olympic champion Johannes HΓΆsflot KlΓ€bo from Norway, who clocked the fastest time of 2:42.32. Following him were Lucas Chanavat from France and Federico Pellegrino from Italy, demonstrating a high level of competition at the event. Overall, the performance of the Estonian team highlights the challenges they face on the international stage and the need for further development in their sprinting capabilities.
