Artificial Intelligence is Advancing in the Lives of Greeks
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly becoming part of everyday life in Greece, leading to new opportunities and concerns regarding its impact on employment, the economy, and institutions.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is swiftly entering the daily lives of citizens in Greece, according to a new survey conducted by diANEOsis that aims to chart Greek perceptions of AI. The research, carried out by Metron Analysis with a nationwide sample of 1,111 individuals through phone and online interviews from January 8 to 13, 2026, provides insights into how familiar the population is with AI technology.
The survey results reveal a strong familiarity among the populace with AI, with 95% of participants indicating they know what AI is, contrasting with only 15% who claim they have merely heard of it. Furthermore, 65% of respondents believe that AI will significantly alter the way they perform their jobs, demonstrating a heightened awareness and engagement with the implications of AI in various sectors, especially in the workplace.
This increasing integration of AI raises important questions and concerns about its effects on employment, the economy, and institutional frameworks in Greece. Experts, including sociologist Heracles Voyiatzis from the Hellenic Open University, have noted that while AI presents novel possibilities for productivity and innovation, it also poses challenges that require careful consideration by policymakers to ensure that the benefits of AI can be realized without detrimental impacts on the workforce and economic stability.
