Evacuation of South Koreans in the Middle East Continues... Departures from Qatar and Jordan

South Koreans in the Middle East are being evacuated, with those in Qatar and Jordan successfully departing with embassy support.

As tensions continue in the Middle East, South Koreans residing in the region are being supported in their evacuation efforts. The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on the 7th that 65 South Korean nationals who were staying in Qatar were able to safely travel to Saudi Arabia between the 3rd and 6th of this month. The South Korean embassy in Qatar played a crucial role by providing transportation and assistance with immigration procedures for these individuals. This organized effort highlights the ongoing concern for South Korean citizens in areas of geopolitical instability.

In addition to those evacuated from Qatar, there were also successful departures from Jordan, where 41 South Koreans on short-term stays were able to leave the country on the 5th and 6th. The South Korean embassy in Jordan deployed a support team to Amman Airport to facilitate the departure process, ensuring that those wishing to leave the country could do so amidst the ongoing crisis. The continuity of commercial flights from Jordan aided this process, allowing for a smoother evacuation experience for those involved.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that efforts to evacuate South Koreans are also ongoing in other countries, including Iran, Israel, Bahrain, and Iraq. The government is committed to ensuring the safety of its citizens abroad, and their proactive measures include providing transportation and necessary support for those affected by the unstable conditions in the region. The situation remains fluid, and the ministry has assured that they will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of South Koreans in the Middle East during these challenging times.
