More than 10 cattle die electrocuted after touching wiring in the interior of Bahia
Over 10 cattle have died from electrocution after coming into contact with high-voltage electrical wiring in the rural area of Iaçu, Bahia.
In a tragic incident in the rural area of Iaçu, Bahia, more than 10 cattle were electrocuted after touching a high-voltage electrical wire. This event took place on Wednesday, October 4, in a farm located in the João Amaro district. The owner of the farm, identified as Gino, reported that 13 animals were killed, resulting in a loss estimated to exceed R$ 50,000. The electrocution incident was triggered by recent heavy rainfall in the region, which compromised the electrical infrastructure's stability, lowering the wiring dangerously close to the ground.
Gino explained that the cattle were heading towards a water source when they made contact with the energized wire. The heavy rainfall in recent days had increased the water levels, ultimately leading to the electrical network's structural failure. This tragic occurrence not only highlights the risks of inadequate electrical infrastructure but also poses an additional burden on local farmers, who may face significant financial losses due to such unforeseen incidents.
This event raises concerns about safety measures related to high-voltage electrical installations in rural areas. With agricultural communities often depending on livestock for their livelihood, ensuring that electrical systems are appropriately maintained and elevated is crucial to preventing similar tragedies in the future. The local authorities may need to assess the situation and implement necessary changes to avoid future incidents of this nature, ensuring the safety of both livestock and agricultural operations in the region.
