Mother and son die after suffering electric shock on farm in Itaguaru, police say
A mother and son died after an electric shock incident at a farm in Itaguaru, Goiás, Brazil.
In a tragic incident in Itaguaru, central Goiás, a 66-year-old woman and her 42-year-old son died due to an electric shock while working on their farm. The victims, identified as Luzia and Hebert Andrade, were well-known in their community for their simplicity, strong family ties, and hard work in agriculture. The Civil Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident to understand how it occurred.
Friends and neighbors described Luzia and Hebert as wonderful, hardworking individuals who had built deep connections within the community. Jurceli Luiz de Carvalho, a long-time friend of the family, recounted her long friendship with Luzia and the bond she had with Hebert, whom she once babysat. The words of friends highlight the impact of their loss, describing it as an irreparable one for those who knew them and emphasizing their honest and industrious nature.
Hebert had taken on additional responsibilities on the farm after the death of his father last year, managing more of the farm's duties while continuing to support his mother. This incident not only mourns the loss of two beloved community members but also raises awareness of safety issues in working environments, especially in rural areas where electric installations might be less regulated. Investigations will hopefully shed light on such incidents to prevent future tragedies.
