More than 100 soldiers of national defense and professional service took the oath
Over 100 soldiers, including 69 from the National Armed Forces, took an oath at the Freedom Monument in Latvia, marking the beginning of their military service.
In a significant ceremony held at the Freedom Monument in Latvia, more than 100 military personnel, including 69 from the National Armed Forces' Staff Battalion, took an oath of service. Of these, 55 young recruits are part of the National Defense Service, while 13 are professional soldiers, all of whom began their service on January 14. The event was marked by the presence of the Zemessardze Orchestra, adding to the solemnity and significance of the occasion.
Defense Minister Andris Sprūds delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude to the new soldiers for their courage and willingness to undertake the important patriotic mission of defending their nation. He highlighted the importance of familial support, acknowledging the contributions of the parents and families of the recruits, who have raised commendable sons and daughters ready to serve their country. This gesture reinforces the collective spirit of defense in Latvia and the commitment of its citizens to national security.
Additionally, the commander of the Staff Battalion, Colonel Antonīna Bļodone, addressed the soldiers, noting that the path to this moment has not been easy. She commended the recruits for their training and the challenges they have overcome together, emphasizing the importance of camaraderie and unity among them as they embark on this new chapter in their military careers.
