Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Families with children prioritized for repatriation flight
The Finnish Foreign Minister announced that about 350 citizens registered for a repatriation flight from the Middle East, with priority given to families with children and vulnerable individuals due to limited seating.
The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has organized a repatriation flight from the Middle East, which has attracted around 350 registrations from Finnish citizens. However, the flight only has about 160 seats available, meaning approximately 190 individuals will not be able to secure a spot. The Ministry stated that the allocation of seats will consider the specific needs of the applicants, giving priority to households with children and those in particularly vulnerable positions. This decision aligns with the ministry's commitment to assist those who may be facing the greatest hardships in returning home.
Communication concerning who has secured a seat will not be disclosed publicly due to privacy concerns, and all registered individuals are expected to be contacted by the end of the day regarding their status. Currently, the Ministry has only confirmed arrangements for this single flight, encouraging travelers to also explore commercial flight options, such as those available from Muscat, Oman. The situation remains fluid, as the Ministry is continuing to monitor and coordinate additional flight options from the United Arab Emirates, though uncertainties around the flight availability persist.
