315 Greeks Return from the Middle East

315 Greeks have returned from the Middle East amid the Israel-US war declaration against Iran, coordinated by the Greek Foreign Ministry.

On March 5, 315 Greek nationals, who were trapped in the Middle East due to geopolitical tensions following the declaration of war by Israel and the US on Iran, successfully returned to Athens. The repatriation was carefully coordinated by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ensuring safe passage for these citizens during a time of significant unrest. The operation included various means of transportation to accommodate the different locations of the returning individuals.

Among those repatriated, 91 citizens and their families arrived from Abu Dhabi on a C-130 military aircraft, thanks to the efforts of the Greek Embassy in the UAE. Additionally, 101 citizens traveled back via a special Aegean Airlines flight from Dubai, further illustrating the cooperative effort by Greek diplomatic missions to safeguard their citizens. The operation also included a land route, where 10 individuals made their way from Jerusalem to Egypt’s Taba crossing, accompanied by the General Consul in Jerusalem, highlighting the diverse methods used to facilitate their return.

This initiative emphasizes the Greek government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens abroad and reflects the larger complexities and dangers posed by the current conflict in the region. As global tensions rise, the importance of responsive and effective diplomatic channels becomes ever more crucial. The repatriation also serves as a reminder of the real-life implications of international conflicts on ordinary citizens, underscoring the necessity for robust emergency protocols and communication strategies by governments to assist their nationals during crises.
