WATCH LIVE | Olympians recover and start in Kontiolahti

The race in Kontiolahti features 96 women athletes, including four Estonians, in the women's 15 km individual event following the Winter Olympics.

Today at 18:00, ETV2 and ERR's sports portal will begin a live broadcast of the biathlon World Cup stage in Kontiolahti, where the first competition on the agenda is the women's 15 km individual event. The race will be commented on by Ivar Lepik and Karel Kulbin, bringing attention to the athletes' performances post-Olympics. Among the 96 competitors are four Estonian contestants: Susan Külm, Regina Ermits, Tuuli Tomingas, and Johanna Talihärm.

The competition follows the first full-length individual race of the season held earlier in Östersund in early December, where Dorothea Wierer, Sonja Leinamo, and Camille Bened all secured podium finishes. At the Winter Olympics, the French athletes Julia Simon and Lou Jeanmonnot claimed a double victory in this event, while Lora Hristova from Bulgaria took home the bronze medal. Susan Külm had the best performance among Estonian athletes at the Olympics, finishing in 28th place with one penalty minute.

With this event marking the return to competition following the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, there is heightened anticipation surrounding the performance of the Estonian athletes, especially as they compete in front of a home audience via the live broadcast. The broadcast aims to engage viewers with the excitement of the biathlon season while highlighting the significance of these athletes’ journeys in the wake of the Olympic games.
