e-EFKA: Retroactive payments of 2.18 million euros to 1,015 pensioners on Friday

On March 6, the e-EFKA will disburse retroactive amounts totaling 2.18 million euros to 1,015 pensioners in Greece.

On Friday, March 6, the Greek organization e-EFKA is set to distribute retroactive payments amounting to 2.18 million euros to 1,015 pensioners. Of these pensioners, 985 are still alive, while 30 cases involve payments being made to heirs based on hereditary rights. The retroactive payments are primarily directed to pensioners from former funds such as the Social Insurance Foundation (IKA) and the Pension Fund of the National Bank of Greece (TSPE-ETE).

The announcement from e-EFKA clarifies that these retroactive amounts arose from the correction and completion of insurance data, along with a recalculation of the main pension contributions. This move is part of e-EFKA's ongoing efforts to ensure the accuracy and legality of pension distributions. The total expenditure for these payments stands at 2,185,686.43 euros, which includes 2,040,331.56 euros for living pensioners and 145,354.87 euros for hereditary payments.

This distribution of retroactive payments is significant as it addresses previous discrepancies in pension calculations and reinforces the Greek government's commitment to providing accurate financial support to its pensioners. Ensuring that pensioners receive what they are owed is an important aspect of social policy, reflecting broader issues within the pension system in Greece, particularly in the context of previous financial crises and ongoing reforms.
