Trans to play first home games in notorious football hall

Narva Trans will host its first two home games at the Narva football hall due to the construction of a new club building at Kalev-Fama Stadium.

Narva Trans, a team in Estonia's Premium League, is set to hold its first two home games of the new season at the Narva football hall, instead of the traditional Kalev-Fama Stadium where the club's building is currently under construction. According to the Estonian Football Association, both the opening match of the Premium League and the quarterfinal match of the Tipner Cup will be held at the indoor facility, which had previously only allowed training sessions.

The decision comes after the city of Narva authorized official matches to be held in the football hall, although these games will take place without spectators. The Narva football hall was inaugurated two years ago but faced issues last November when it was closed due to structural problems caused by heavy snowfall. Despite the facility costing seven million euros, the local authorities have no plans to demolish the hall, as stated by Narva's mayor, Katri Raik.

The club will kick off its first Premium League match on March 7 at 17:00 against Harju JK Laagri. This unique situation for Narva Trans highlights the challenges local sports teams face regarding infrastructure and the impact of weather on sporting events, as they navigate the complexities of maintaining facilities while trying to engage with their fanbase in the community.
