A new school building is rising in Narva, two old ones are being demolished
A new school complex for over 700 students is being designed in Narva, with two older schools scheduled for demolition over the next three years.
In Narva's Soldina residential area, the planning of a new school complex aimed at accommodating over 700 students is underway. The new primary school is expected to open its doors in three years, coinciding with the planned demolition of at least two, possibly three, older school buildings in the border town. This initiative indicates Narva's focus on modernizing its educational infrastructure to meet the needs of its growing population and educational demands.
The agreement for the design of the new primary school was signed on February 12 by the Narva City Office of Development and Economics and the Tallinn-based architectural firm Molumba. The design project is estimated to cost around 800,000 euros, which includes VAT, reaffirming the city's commitment to investing in educational facilities. Notably, the architects behind the project are the winners of the architecture competition 'Ristik', emphasizing the professional caliber of the design team assigned to this significant project.
The new school is planned to replace the Soldino school, which closed in 2024, and a kindergarten called Väikevend, which ceased operations in 2015. As the demolition of these outdated facilities and the preparation of the site near Mõisa Street are nearing completion, Narva is taking proactive steps to enhance its educational landscape. This move is a vital investment in the city's future, aligning with broader educational reform and infrastructure development goals.
