Yle: Support for the Finns Party on the Rise

Recent polling shows a rise in support for the Finns Party, which has overtaken the Centre Party to become the third most popular party in Finland.

According to a new poll by Yle, support for the Finns Party has increased by 1.6 percentage points over the past month, allowing them to surpass the Centre Party and becoming the third most popular party in Finland with a support rate of 14.9%. This shift in party rankings highlights the changing political landscape in the country. Currently, the Centre Party's support has dropped by 1.1 percentage points to 13.2%, placing them in fourth position.

The poll also reveals that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) maintains its support level at 25%, while the National Coalition Party has seen a decline of 0.9 percentage points, landing at 17.9%, marking their lowest support since December 2020. The widening gap between the SDP and the National Coalition Party suggests that the SDP has solidified its position as the leading party in this government term, illustrating the fluctuating dynamics among the major political players in Finland.

Despite the shifting support for individual parties, the combined support for government parties remained relatively unchanged in March, as the Finns Party's gains offset the slight decrease for the National Coalition Party. Additionally, the smaller governing party, the Swedish People's Party (RKP), has also seen its support shrink since the last parliamentary elections, further complicating the political environment in Finland and indicating potential challenges for the ruling coalition moving forward.
