HS Poll: Support for the National Coalition Party Remains Low

A recent poll shows that support for Finland's National Coalition Party remains stagnant at 17.8%, marking the lowest level for the party during the current government term.

The latest poll conducted by Helsingin Sanomat indicates that support for Finland's National Coalition Party (Kokoomus) has plateaued at 17.8%, which is the lowest figure since the party entered the government. This slight decrease of 0.1 percentage points from the previous poll reflects a continued struggle for the party among voters. In comparison, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) leads with a support of 24.8%, maintaining its position as the most popular political party. The True Finns (Perussuomalaiset) and the Centrist Party (Keskusta) follow with 13.4% and 13.7% respectively, while the Left Alliance (Vasemmistoliitto) has also seen stable performance at 10.4%, matching its record high from the last poll.

The poll, conducted between February 17 and March 16, comes ahead of Finland's parliamentary elections scheduled for April 18, 2027. Given the margin of error of 1.5 percentage points for the larger parties, changes in support levels may not be significant enough to indicate a clear shift in voter sentiment. This data suggests that while the SDP maintains a comfortable lead, the Kokoomus party may need to strategize effectively to boost its image and gain ground with voters if it hopes to improve its standing before the upcoming elections.

As the political landscape evolves in Finland, these poll results are essential for understanding public opinion and could influence party strategies as the election date approaches. The long-standing support for the SDP and the Left Alliance prompts questions about potential shifts within the electorate and the factors that may drive voter decisions in the next parliamentary elections.
