See where to donate in MS for victims of the floods in Minas Gerais

Mato Grosso do Sul's Civil Defense and Fire Department have launched a donation campaign to aid families affected by severe flooding in Minas Gerais.

In response to the recent severe rains that have devastated parts of Minas Gerais, resulting in over 70 fatalities and displacing nearly 9,000 people, the Civil Defense and Fire Department of Mato Grosso do Sul have initiated a donation campaign in Campo Grande. This campaign aims to support the families affected, particularly in the hard-hit Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais, where the destruction has been most severe.

The donation collection points are established at operational fire stations in Campo Grande, which are open 24 hours a day to receive contributions. The current priority for donations is directed towards essential food items such as basic food baskets and clean drinking water, as these are critical for survival at this time. Looking ahead, the campaign will also prepare for the reconstruction phase by encouraging donations of mattresses and other household items.

Additionally, recognizing the plight of pets left behind by families who had to evacuate, the campaign is inviting donations for animal food to assist local organizations that are caring for these abandoned pets. This holistic approach not only addresses immediate human needs but also considers the welfare of animals affected by the disaster, highlighting a sense of community support during this difficult period.
