Municipal guard found dead with a gunshot wound to the head on a highway in SP
A municipal guard from São Vicente, Brazil, was found dead with a gunshot wound on a highway in São Paulo.
A municipal guard (GCM) named Flávio Roberto Soares Carvalho was found dead early on Wednesday on the Padre Manoel da Nóbrega highway in São Vicente, São Paulo. Authorities reported that he suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including to the head. A motorcyclist initially thought he encountered an accident when he noticed Carvalho's downed motorcycle and subsequently called the police.
Upon investigation, the military police discovered Carvalho lying beside his motorcycle at kilometer 285.5 around 12:30 a.m. They located both a spent bullet casing and an intact round at the scene. In addition, he had a holster attached to his waist, but his firearm was missing, which raises questions about the events leading to his death and potentially indicates foul play.
The incident highlights growing concerns surrounding violence against law enforcement personnel in Brazil, as the context around Carvalho's death remains unclear and investigations are underway. The recovery of both spent and live ammunition indicates a potential struggle or a premeditated act, making this case a significant focus for authorities and the local community as they seek answers and justice.
