The São Paulo Civil Police are investigating the death of military police officer Gisele Alves Santana, aged 32, who was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head in her apartment in Brás, São Paulo. She was at home with her husband, Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto, when the incident occurred. According to his statement to the authorities, he heard the gunfire from another room and upon checking, found Gisele lying in a room with the weapon nearby.

Emergency services rushed Gisele to a hospital, but despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The initial report registered her death as a suicide; however, due to the suspicious circumstances, the investigation has pivoted to examine the facts more closely. Authorities are looking into the details of the shooting and assessing inconsistencies in the accounts provided thus far, signalling the possibility of foul play.
