The Latvian Ministry of Culture is set to submit a funding request to the government for nearly 107,000 euros to repair technical problems with the heating system at the National Archive of Latvia. The Ministry's representative, Kokale, explained that the current budget does not allow for reserves to finance unforeseen expenses, prompting the request for these funds from the emergency budget allocation.

This funding need highlights ongoing issues with the infrastructure of the National Archive, with Minister of Culture Agnese Lāce emphasizing the importance of prioritizing archive infrastructure in future EU funding periods. Minister Lāce pointed out that while funding for the archive project was previously allocated, the execution was stalled by the State Real Estate Management company, which refused to proceed with the project.
