Traffic on the MGC-135 highway in Brazil will operate under a 'Stop and Go' system due to scheduled maintenance.
Traffic on the MGC-135 highway, which connects the municipalities of Pedras de Maria da Cruz and Lontra in Brazil, will be governed by a 'Stop and Go' system beginning this Wednesday, the 4th. This change is part of a series of planned maintenance activities that will continue until March 31. The maintenance work is scheduled for weekdays, between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM, with interruptions of no longer than 15 minutes at a time.
The actions are being overseen by the Department of Roads of Minas Gerais (DER-MG), focusing on excavating and removing slopes to enhance the stability of the surrounding infrastructure and ensure road safety. The unstable conditions are attributed to a combination of clay and rocky soil in the hillside region, alongside heavy rainfall that has led to material runoff onto the roadway, increasing the risk of accidents.
In addition to addressing the immediate risks, the scheduled maintenance efforts are critical for preventing potential landslides or rockfalls that could pose significant dangers to motorists. Motorists are advised to remain cautious while navigating through this construction area and be prepared for potential delays during the specified maintenance hours.
