Mogi-Bertioga registers 10 km of slow traffic this Tuesday
The Mogi-Bertioga highway is experiencing 10 kilometers of slow traffic due to heavy vehicle congestion during the Carnival holiday period in Brazil.
On Tuesday, February 17, the Mogi-Bertioga highway reported 10 kilometers of slow traffic toward Mogi das Cruzes, particularly in the stretch between kilometers 80 and 70. This congestion, noted by the São Paulo Regulatory Agency for Public Transport Services (Artesp), is attributed to the high volume of vehicles on the road as many people travel for the Carnival holiday.
The Concessionária Novo Litoral (CNL), which manages the highway, anticipated that over 100,000 vehicles would use this route from Friday, February 13 through Wednesday, February 18. To address the expected surge in traffic, the CNL implemented a Carnival operation which included additional resources to ensure smooth traffic flow and road safety. A 24-hour monitoring system operated in conjunction with highway patrols was also established.
To further manage the traffic situation, the operation included additional tow trucks strategically positioned on the Mogi-Bertioga highway and the SP-055 in Praia Grande, along with an increase in the number of support teams to assist drivers. This proactive approach aims to alleviate congestion and ensure a safer travel experience during one of the busiest travel periods in Brazil's calendar.
