Gov’s wife encourages boy child to shun cybercrime

The wife of the Lagos State Governor has urged young boys to avoid cybercrime and embrace positive values during a workshop focused on moral guidance and mentorship.

Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the wife of the Lagos State Governor, has called upon young boys to reject cybercrime and focus on cultivating positive values at the Lagos Boy Child Initiative Residential Workshop. Her address highlighted the growing influence of digital platforms on youth, stressing the necessity for stronger moral guidance to prevent boys from succumbing to cybercrime due to peer pressure and the allure of quick financial gains.

During her speech at the workshop themed "Re-Orientating the Boy Child to Become an Ambassador," she underscored the importance of discipline, integrity, and responsible social media usage. The workshop aimed to equip boys with tools to help them develop character and self-discipline, which are essential for making sound decisions. Ibijoke pointed out that many young boys are tempted into illegal activities because of inadequate orientation, signaling a need for more comprehensive mentorship initiatives.

As digital influence and social media become increasingly pervasive, Ibijoke emphasized the critical need for strong moral foundations and emotional intelligence among boys. This initiative aims not only to protect them from falling into the traps of cybercrime but also to foster a generation that embodies responsibility and positive social behavior, preparing them for a brighter future in a digital world.
